Ezra Newman graduated from Cornell in the Class of 2016 with a major in Near Eastern studies and a minor in Jewish studies. During his time at Cornell he focused mainly on Judaism during the Roman and early Christian Period, on which he wrote his senior honors thesis. He also studied Judaism during the early Islamic period, including spending a year abroad at the University of Cambridge where he worked with documents from the Cairo Genizah.
After graduating Cornell, Ezra attended Harvard Law School, graduating in the class of 2019. Since then he has been working at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York City.
While he doesn't work with Near Eastern studies anymore, Ezra still enjoys reading the occasional book and article, especially when written by his former Cornell professors, to remind him of the studies he has left behind. He will forever be indebted to the faculty at the Near Eastern studies department for teaching him research, writing and critical thinking skills that he still attempts to use in his daily life.
